Thinkware's advanced parking mode surveillance, particularly for the U1000 4K UHD, Q1000 2K QHD, and X1000 2K QHD dual-channel models, is one of the reasons it is popular among security-conscious dash cam owners. Their technology enabled game-changing features in car surveillance such as impact detection with buffered recording, time lapse mode, and energy-saving modes.
For its AI entry, Thinkware equipped the Q1000 dash cam with protection from heat-related damage by the Smart Parking Mode feature, which switches to a low-power mode if the temperature inside the vehicle rises too high during Parking Surveillance. The dash cam will only record incidents caused by impacts until its operating temperature returns to normal, at which point it will be able to resume Motion Detection or Timelapse Parking mode.
Moreover, with the U1000, Thinkware also introduced the Radar Module, which enhances the dash cam's Energy Saving Parking Mode 2.0 with ultra-high frequency radar motion detection. It enables the camera to remain at rest for longer periods of time, thereby reducing power consumption. When the radar detects motion, it activates the camera and begins recording that segment. If an impact is detected, the pre-recorded motion footage will be used as a buffer on the impact footage, showing 10 seconds before and 10 seconds after the impact for a 20-second clip. The motion footage is not saved if no impact is detected.
