Is It Safe to Drive During The Coronavirus Outbreak?

The answers you need plus everything dash cam in April

With most of the world now on lock-down due to the coronavirus outbreak, the vast majority of us are being told to stay home and practice social distancing, and just like that, the simple acts of going for a walk have become controversial. But what about going for a drive - after all, the car is just a large isolation chamber, right?

While the use of your car has changed, you still need to be protected against theft, collisions and everything in between.

Let us take care of you with the Healthcare Heroes Discount

It’s already physically and mentally draining working at the frontlines, you can imagine the stress and desperateness this frontline worker was feeling when she fell victim to car theft just last week in Vancouver, BC. We do not wish this on anyone and especially not our healthcare heroes during these trying times. So, from now until April 30, we are offering a 10% OFF discount exclusive to frontline heroes: doctors, nurses, paramedics, nursing home caregivers, pharmacists, hospital staffs and border agents.

Know a healthcare hero who can benefit from this offer, spread the word for us! Not all heroes wear capes, but all of them can use a dash cam to watch over their hero-mobile while they are keeping us safe.

Spring Clearance delivers great savings to all food delivery drivers

As working from home and social distancing have become the new normal, it has changed how we are able to buy groceries and how we are able to get food from our favorite restaurants, and many of us are turning to on-demand food delivery services. There has never been a better time to drive for delivery. But just because you are not transporting passengers doesn’t mean you don’t need to protect yourself and your vehicle with a dash cam.

Did we mention our Biggest Spring Clearance Event is currently on? Save big on Thinkware, BlackVue and VIOFO, from 4K to Full HD!

We're getting a new 4K UHD dash cam!

No, it’s a Thinkware and it’s not a BlackVue. It’s the new X10 from IROAD. The X10 is exclusive to BlackBoxMyCar in the US and Canada so you won’t be able to find it anywhere else! We will to be doing an unboxing in the coming week to give you a first look at the dash cam. And in case you’re in the market for a 4K dash cam, we will also be diving deep into the X10 and see how it compares to the other 4K models, including the Thinkware U1000 Dual-Channel and the VIOFO A129 Pro Duo. You certainly do not want to miss it all, so stay tuned!

For now, all we can say is the X10 is going to be a significant upgrade from the X9, both resolution and feature-wise.

To drive and not to drive...

In difficult times like these, it may be challenging to find things to do that can truly help you cope, stay sane, feel connected, and make sense of the world. You might be tempted to go for a drive to take advantage of the empty roads or just relieve the boredom (and stress) of self-isoloation. Our government hasn’t banned driving yet but keep in mind that if you get into a collision, you will be put in a situation where you will come in close contact with other people, including paramedics, firefighters and police officers - contact that increases the chances of transmitting the virus.

If you absolutely need to take the car out, may we recommend try timing it for the early evening so you could join in on the worldwide applause for frontline staff, too, and it’s been quite spectacular in many cities.
