The PowerCell 8 is a dash cam battery designed, tested and backed by us, BlackboxMyCar. This LiFePO4 battery is engineered and assembled in South Korea.

Changing Passwords

If you are planning on changing the battery password, you will need to enter the default password '1234' when prompted for the old password.

Note: There is no password retrieval or reset function. Password reset is a function that can only be performed by technicians at the manufacturer. The Reset function within the Battery Manager App is for resetting the default battery settings (ie. the Dual Charger setting) only and will not reset the password back to the default "1234".

Because of this, we strongly recommend that you don't change the password unless you absolutely needed to, and if you do change it, make sure to keep a record of the new password. Once you have changed the password, you will be asked to re-enter it every time you access the Settings menu within the Battery Manager App.

PowerCell 8 battery pack

After researching dash cams that would fulfill my needs, I decided to go with the VIOFO A329 2 channel camera. I’m one that invests in a total package. I was on the fence about purchasing a battery pack because to be completely honest, my vehicle spends 90% of the time in my gated driveway. The other 10% I’m in the vehicle waiting somewhere for the wife…
Anyway, this review isn’t much help but I will say that if you have the means to get the battery, do it and have peace of mind for when you need it. It’s an investment.

dead camera after 3 days

well, the camera stopped working 3 days after it was installed. And won't know where the problem lies till Tuesday

Just as advertised, easy install

This was the second battery pack I’ve purchased for my second vehicle. it works exactly as advertised. The wiring is straightforward, the installation is pretty easy. They do include some Velcro strips, which allow you to adhere the pack to the carpet underneath the seat, in my case the driver seat.

I recommend test fitting everything and making sure it all works prior to hiding the cables underneath the vehicle trim. I identified a problem with a fuse this way. However, this is a great product and works exactly as advertised.

I have it attached to a thinkware u3000 configured for very low power consumption with the radar. I can easily get 10 to 14 days of time off this battery pack without touching the vehicle battery.

Works like a champ. Had it professionally installed. Had trouble connecting it to my phone but their support was super responsive and helpful. Turns out there was an error on their website, it listed the correct app to download but the link took you to the wrong version. They were super responsive and asked for my help to correct the issue.

Battery charges fast, right now bc I have three channels on low bitrate mode it should last about 12 hours. Which is plenty for my needs.

Working but..

All features are working as tested, still haven't used the hardwire. Not sure if the battery pack or my viofo a329 is the problem. I cannot get the length of time that supposed to achieved with fully charge battery, either low bitrate or auto event detection or time lapse recording. Still testing..
