Cellink Neo Extended Battery Pack Review
The Extended battery shares identical dimensions and design to the regular NEO; however, it conveniently lacks Bluetooth connectivity and the input/output ports for ACC input and output to the camera to reduce confusion and complexity. What this means is that the smartphone app will detect the NEO and NEO Extended battery packs together, and the connection between the two batteries is just via one single wire harness.
The NEO Extended battery has two female in/out ports on either side of the top of the device and is packaged with a single cable (intended for connecting one of these ports to the Ext. Battery port found on the main unit). The other port is intended to daisy-chain the battery in series to be able to power a dash cam for even longer durations. In regards to specifications, the Extended battery offers the same power capacity to the Cellink NEO.
As the Cellink NEO is able to power a Full HD 2-Channel dash cam such as the Thinkware F800 PRO for around 25 hours in parking mode, the Extended battery is able to effectively double that time to about 50 hours. Please note that the BlackVue DR900S-2CH will last about 30 hours in total, with a NEO and NEO extended battery pack. These times are also effectively doubled when using a 1-Channel dash cam.
The Extended battery pack is a great option for those who leave their vehicles parked for more than 24 hours at a time, and want to be able to monitor it for this duration. Such examples include going on a trip while the car is parked at an airport, or if the car is parked on the street without being driven for a couple of days. Parking mode recording is so important and extending the length of this feature just offers a lot more protection.
Do note that with more capacity, the longer it takes to charge the Extended battery (if you decide to add more than one Extended battery, this will take even longer). This solution is ideal for those that have a longer commute, or have a power inverter readily available to charge their batteries at home. It takes approximately 1.5-2 hours to fully charge a regular NEO and a NEO Extended battery pack via the vehicle’s cigarette socket or fusebox, and about 20% longer when using a power inverter.
