Micro SD cards
To store recorded footage, most dash cams require a memory card, usually an SD (Secure Digital) or microSD card.
Without a memory card, the camera would have nowhere to save the recordings, therefore rendering the device unusable. Dash cam memory cards are overwritten frequently, so a larger memory capacity reduces the number of write cycles and extends the life of the card.
The higher the resolution of the unit, the more space the footage will generally take up on the card. Ensure to get larger SD card with higher resolution cameras so that there can be a sufficient footage history.
We recommend purchasing SD cards with BlackboxMyCar, as we thoroughly test our cards for compatibility with our models, and provide a 1-year warranty on them, while other warranties are normally invalidated by usage with a dash cam.
