VIOFO A119 V3 vs. 70mai Pro Plus+ A500s

The first dash cam we’ll dive into is the upgraded version of the Pro Plus A500 - the Pro Plus+ A500S. Because of its 5 MP IMX355 image sensor, this dash cam provides satisfying video coverage in its 140° wide-angle lens, capturing footage at 30fps with a resolution of 2592x1994. The A500S also allows for a rear cam that records 1080p, the RC06.

Despite its compact 87.5 x 53 x 18 mm dimensions, the Pro Plus+ is equipped with great features in terms of capturing video. Through its Wide Dynamic Range function, the Pro Plus+ assures great image quality in low-light conditions - balancing out the starkness for a vivid video sequence. It's also engineered with DeFog technology that enhances video quality in fog or snow, plus a Super Night Vision works well in the dark.

For security, it is also equipped with 24-hour parking surveillance and a shock sensor that detects probable unforeseen circumstances such as acceleration, braking, and shock - which will require the installation of a hardwire kit.

Ensuring the driver’s safety, the Advanced Driver Assistance System of the Pro Plus+ includes a lane departure and collision warning system, which alerts you if you're going out of your lane, and getting too close to the car in front. Moreover, it also has a built-in GPS that records your location and travel time for more accurate evidence.

If you wish to view the videos, you can easily access and view them on the Pro Plus+ 2” LCD display screen. Making the user experience more convenient, it can also be played back, downloaded, and shared through the 70 mai’s mobile app.

Like the 70mai, the A119 V3 dash cam boasts an advanced 5MP IMX335 Sony Starvis sensor and F1.6 7G lens, shooting in stunning quality day and night at 2160P QHD+ resolution and 60/30 frames per second. It shares the similar 140-degree field of view that gives a wide and decent coverage of the road ahead.

Aside from the more advanced image sensors, they ensured that the safety features were sufficient to provide better value for money. Given the importance of having a witness when leaving your car unattended, the A119 V3 dashcam innovated in parking monitoring, with three options to suit different needs: Auto Event Detection, Time Lapse, and Low Bitrate Recording.

When you select Auto Event Detection, the buffered parking mode function will automatically record 15 seconds before and 30 seconds after the event. You will need a 3-wire Hardwiring cable or an external battery pack (such as the Cellink NEO Battery Pack) to enable this feature.

This A119 V3 also includes an external GPS module that tracks speed and route in your video footage. The GPS will also sync the A119 V3's clock with the GPS time, allowing your video files to be properly time-stamped.

To easily view your footage and configure your dash cam settings, the A119 V3 has a 2-inch LCD screen and five buttons for adjusting menu and playing back recorded video.

Unlike certain dash cams that can record at a low frame rate while parked, the A119 V3 dash cam offers a supercapacitor rather than a battery. It also employs a quick-release mount, along with the new static windshield stickers that make installation and removal from one car to another more seamless.
