Which 2022 FineVu Dash Cam Should I Get?
FineVu GX300 vs. FineVu GX1000 Review
With the outstanding features of the FineVu GX300 launched in mid 2022, we already considered it to be the South Korean brand's latest flagship dash cam. However, FineVu chose to end the year on a high note by releasing the FineVu GX1000, a two-channel dash cam designed to stand out among all FineVus to date. Let's see if this new model can outperform the popular GX300.
Review: FineVu GX300 Dual-Channel Dashcam
The GX300 is a two-channel dash cam system that boasts 2K QHD front and Full HD rearview resolution that covers a total of 250° of your vehicle.
FineVu GX300 Dual Dash Cam Image Quality and Recording Capabilities
The FineVu GX300 front-facing camera's 5.14MP Sony STARVIS IMX335 image sensor captures great 2K QHD video captures of the road ahead at a 122° wide-angle, delivering crisp and rich video quality. As a result, you get the best coverage with the least amount of distortion. The rear cam uses a 2MP SOI F37 image sensor to capture 1080p Full HD dash cam footage of traffic behind at a 134° field of view.
Does the GX300 camera Have Night Vision?
For optimal video quality, the GX300 includes HDR and Auto Night Vision. By combining two videos with different luminance settings, HDR improves object visibility. The high-performance Allwinner V536 DualCore processor ensures that all of these technologies run smoothly behind the scenes.
What are the FineVu GX300's safety features?
Apart from ensuring your car's overall protection with front and rear coverage, the GX300 can also work in three modes with the installation of a FineVu hardwiring kit (or a dash cam battery pack such as the BlackboxMyCar PowerCell 8 or Cellink NEO): motion with collision detection, standard Time-Lapse, and Smart Time Lapse for an added layer of security. It also includes a number of safety features, such as an Advanced Driver Assist System (ADAS), Speed Camera Alert, and Driving Rest Guide.
What is the Smart Time Lapse feature on the GX300?
Also present in the FineVu GX33, the Smart Time Lapse is an intermittent recording mode in which the dashcam takes snapshots at regular intervals and replays them at normal speed. When an event is detected, the dash cam resumes standard recording at 30 frames per second, allowing you to capture up to 1,134 minutes without overwriting - which can be enabled in both driving and parking modes.
How Can You Watch a Video Footage?
The GX300 lacks an LCD display. Playback, on the other hand, is even more convenient. Because the GX300 includes built-in WiFi, you can connect it to your smartphone (iOS or Android) and use the free FineVu mobile app to change camera settings and stream or download saved footage. You can also watch your videos on your computer by installing the free FineVu PC Player, which is available for both Mac and Windows.
With the GX300, you'll also get a 32GB microSD card from Samsung that can record for up to 193 minutes in standard mode. The GX300 accepts memory cards with capacities of up to 128 GB, and loop recording ensures that when the microSD card is full, the oldest files are overwritten first, ensuring that no new, unwatched files are lost.

Review: FineVu GX1000 2K QHD Dash Cam
The GX1000, FineVu's newest dash cam, is expected to have a plethora of features for the driver and passengers' total safety and convenience. FineVu did not disappoint, as the GX1000 has more features than the GX300, as well as being FineVu's first camera with 2K QHD in front and 2K QHD in the back.
FineVu GX1000 Image Quality and Recording Capabilities
The image quality is without a doubt GX1000's main and major improvement. The FineVu GX1000 features the most recent 5.1MP Sony Exmor R STARVIS image sensors in the front camera and another set of 5.1MP in the rear. Yes, both have the same image sensors, allowing you to see the road ahead as well as the traffic behind you.
In comparison to the GX33 and GX300, which only provide FHD front and rear and QHD front + FHD rear video footage, the GX1000 provides excellent 2K QHD @ 30FPS video footage, aided by HDR and Auto Night Vision, which optimize video quality by automatically tuning to deliver bright images in low-light and high-contrast settings.
What features of the GX1000 does the GX300 don't have?
Apart from the 2K QHD front and 2K QHD rear camera resolution, the GX1000 also boasts cutting-edge safety features that the GX300 is not equipped with, such as the AI Damage Detection 2.0, AI 2.0 Temperature Monitoring, and Auto Language Adjust functions.
What is the AI Damage Detection 2.0 update on the GX1000?
In the event of an impact, the AI Damage Detection automatically scans the entire vehicle body structure using machine learning technology and sensors. The damaged area is divided into eight directions and reported in different impact size levels. When you get back into your car and start the engine, the GX1000 will notify you of the impact, and the device will show you which area was likely hit as well as a video clip of the incident.
Above this new feature, the GX1000 also includes the number of safety features in the GX300, such as an Advanced Driver Assist System (ADAS), Speed Camera Alert and Driving Rest Guide.
What is the AI 2.0 Temperature monitoring feature of the GX1000?
While some dash cams easily shut down when exposed to hot regions and temperatures, the FineVu GX1000 ensures that it will continue to do its job even if it becomes hot. The FineVu GX1000 is designed to withstand high temperatures in hotter climates, constantly monitoring the ambient temperature and switching to Power Saving Mode if extreme heat is detected.
The GX1000, like the GX300, also has a Power Saving Mode to ensure that you get the most out of your dash cam. When parked, the GX1000 consumes only 0.06W for two channels with its GPS connection turned off. It also has the Smart Time Lapse feature, which ensures that impacts and events are properly captured while tripling, if not quadrupling, the storage capacity on your microSD card.
Because the GX1000 lacks a screen, playback will be viewed on the app, which is more easy and hassle-free due to the built-in FineVu WiFI connectivity. FineVu also improved the user experience by adding low voltage shut off features, anti-flicker, and new 15 fps settings, all of which can be controlled via phone app.

FineVu Dashcam Upgrade: GX300 or GX1000?
Whatever the FineVu GX300 can provide, the GX1000 can do better. From the front and rear image quality of 2K QHD to the additional AI temperature monitoring, parking, and damage detection functions, it is safe to say that the FineVu GX1000 has outperformed the GX300.
If you're satisfied with the GX300's features and don't require AI assistance for security, the GX1000 may be unnecessary. However, if you want to take things to the next level and maximize your user experience, the GX1000 is the way to go.
