Choosing the right placement is crucial for optimal camera performance. For the Lyriq, the front camera was mounted on the passenger side, hidden behind the rearview mirror stem. This placement ensures a clear view without obstructing the driver’s line of sight.
After cleaning the windshield, the camera was secured using its adhesive mount. The external GPS was installed nearby to enhance location tracking.
The Cadillac Lyriq’s advanced electrical system requires careful hardwiring to avoid interference. The fuse box, located by the passenger-side glove box, was accessed by removing the plastic panel.
After identifying the ACC and Constant fuses, a Micro2 fuse was used to connect the Thinkware hardwiring kit. This step ensures the dash cam powers up with the car and supports parking mode, providing continuous monitoring.
Routing the cables was the next step, starting with the power cable from the fuse box to the front camera. The cable was concealed behind the A-pillar and headliner, ensuring a clean installation. Special care was taken to avoid interference with airbags.
For the rear camera, the cable was routed through the headliner and past the B and C pillars. The rear camera was mounted at the center of the rear windshield, avoiding defroster lines for clear recording. The Thinkware Dash Cam Link app’s live view feature helped fine-tune the camera angles.
With the installation complete, we cleaned up the wiring, secured everything with cable clips, and reinstalled the panels. The result is a seamless and professional dash cam setup that protects the vehicle and offers peace of mind to the owner.
