Received my VIOFO A229 pro super fast, and could not be happier. Already had a forward facing dash cam in my Tacoma Trailhunter, but added this unit so catch everything behind me. Purchase with confidence!!

Transitioning from the Thinkware U1000 to the Blackvue, I have found the application and cloud features to be significantly more advanced. Blackvue’s capabilities surpass those of Thinkware, allowing for remote 4K video downloads even when the camera is in parking mode. The push notifications and video previews triggered by impact detection are particularly impressive. The video quality is commendable, with no apparent focus issues that have been reported with other models.

However, I encountered a problem with a SanDisk High Endurance 512GB card, which may have been due to its not being formatted to FAT32. This issue caused the camera to repeatedly disconnect and reconnect from the cloud. Replacing the card with a 256GB High Endurance model resolved the connectivity problems.

While the camera performs exceptionally well in most conditions, it does struggle in extremely dark situations. Additionally, I purchased a CPL Filter for the LTE model and made a minor modification by removing the rubber gasket from the inter-lens, which was too tight. I secured the lens with VHB tape, resulting in a seamless installation. This is a straightforward modification for anyone interested in adding a CPL filter.

I did pair the camera with BBMC Power cell 8+. More for the fact that it allows for additional expansion batteries. The only disadvantage is that the battery doesn’t communicate with Blackvue’s application to show battery percentage via cloud. Something I was not aware of until after purchasing and watching multiple reviews of Blaclvue’s b130x battery.

This is my second Thinkware product. The operation is similar to my older model. Only complaint to swaping out units was the rear camera connections weren't the same. So, a rewire was required. This unit has more adjustments for settings like sensitivities. Driving a truck tends to trip it on high sensitivity, and it can be dialed back. Next test: Overheat. It had better live up to the posted tests.

Let’s be clear. This is required for every above average installation. If you want your camera hardwired in your car, you must have this.

After much research, I choose VIOFO for my first dash cam. First based on strong reviews. But also the web site. As this was my first dash cam, I had many questions. The web site was excellent in assisting me to become educated regarding dash cams. I found information which addressed all my questions.

Definitely a must have for anyone who needs to monitor their vehicle and avoid dashcam shutdown.

The best part is the 60fps. That's important when at highway speeds! Easy to get started with the seamless setup and Wifi data transfer. Love how compact it is and stealthy. This is the 3rd BlackVue I've purchased from BlackBoxMyCar. I'll be purchasing more in the future!

The first Thinkware is about 10 years old and still working perfectly. I asked for the closest model to what I already have and this is it. Installation took some time to be "perfect" but it looks and works great! Highly recommend Thinkware and Black Box My Car.

Very easy to install, picture Quality is excellent, power cable was advertised as USB C in description, but package contained USB A, and it could have been a few feet longer, as I installed in my G Cherokee L. This replaced my older Blackview, and the change saved me dollars, for same picture quality IMHO.
